Join us to experience the spectacle of the highest level of tactical prowess and teamwork as participants struggle to achieve the title of the most destructive trio in BAR and win the community-funded prize of $600!

This time, it’s designed to be an exclusive high-skill tourney, including a selection of our top players. Hence, the main event brackets will only include 6 teams (18 players). In case we get more teams, a special pre-elimination stage will run in which these final participants will be selected. Don’t miss these matches! Tune in to the #tournament channel on our Discord.

This tournament will be streamed and casted on Twitch by some of our most beloved content creators, read the post to learn more!

Timing:

The main event will take place on:

July 15th, 2023
14:00 UTC

Prize pool

Thanks to the courtesy of OPman we have raised a pool of $600 for the winners of this competition. The prize is to be split equally between the team members and is split over the top 3 teams in the following manner (please make sure you have Paypal!):

  • 1st place: 300$
  • 2nd place: 180$
  • 3rd place: 120$

Tournament format

We are going to use our own homemade format for this event. It’s designed to ensure the best casting and viewer experience and equal coverage of every team’s games. If you’re planning to join the tourney, make sure to carefully read the information below.

Pre-elimination:

In case we get more than 6 teams, the ones with least collective openskill rating shall play a bo3 qualifier matchup:

These teams will be matched according to the order of rating sum (calculated on signups closing time):

  • 6th vs 7th
  • 5th vs 8th
  • 5th vs 9th
  • and so on...

Please try to run this matchup before the main, if the teams don't menage to agree on a timing, there will be a quick bo1 match at the start of the tourney. The matchups will be announced the day before the tournament and the organiser will try to micromanage to get all teams play their games asap. Be sure to check discord for updates! Due to the short notice on this event we chose a quite limited number of maps so that the teams can have a chance practice them!

STAGE I (start of the main event)

6 teams, single elimination, best of 3 - randomised matchups

Then stages II & III will run in parallel:

STAGE II

the winners of stage I: 3 teams, round-robin, best of 1

if the result is undecided after 3 games (we got 1:1:1 situation) we do another round of bo1's, until a winning team emerges.

STAGE III

the losers of stage I: 3 teams, round-robin, best of 1

STAGE IV

Winner of stage III + 2 losers of stage II, round robin, best of 1

The winning team from this round gets promoted to the grand finale to fight for the 1st place. Runner-up gets the third place.

Grand Finals

winner of stage IV vs winner of stage II, bo3 or bo5 if both teams agree

If the time allows finals will be held as bo5, with following two maps played:

Rules:

  • Every team is allowed to name one reservist player (on top of 3), that it can swap with any of the players during the event
  • Default start boxes unless specified otherwise
  • No user widgets
  • No spectators other than casters/organiser
  • Use !boss, !preset team and lock your lobby / !kick anyone who is not a player or caster.

Professionally casted!

We’re excited to announce that the main event (excluding eliminations) will be casted on BAR Official Twitch Channel and commented by our wonderful host - Borg King, and your belowed streamers - BARCastTV and ProfessorBAR, with the assistance of PtaQ as the organizer. We can’t wait to see this thing go off! Don’t miss the stream on Sunday! The Twitch embed will show up in this post at the start of the event.

In case any questions arise, be sure to ask them in #tournament channel or directly to PtaQ (ptaq4565 on Discord).
