The Cortex Alignments are the two dominant ideological coalitions that emerged from the Echelon Schism, the defining political and philosophical divide within modern Cortex society. Each alignment represents a different interpretation of the All-Father’s sacrifice and the future relationship between humanity and artificial intelligence. The Echelon Concordat advocates strict adherence to the Echelon Code, emphasizing human judgment, AI restraint, and disciplined governance rooted in the Cold Divergence. In contrast, the Divinitas Mandate views the All-Father’s final act as a transformative moment that signals humanity’s next evolutionary step through deeper integration with machine intelligence. While these alignments disagree sharply on doctrine, both remain bound by the Chain, the Mantle, and the broader civic structure of Cortex civilization.
