Beyond All Reason is currently in active discussions about a commercial publishing arrangement with Hooded Horse. Nothing has been signed. A contributor consultation is in progress, and if the team comes back against the deal, it doesn't go through. But we'd rather be upfront now than have anyone feel misled later.

‍What this means in practice:
‍The game's code remains under GPL v2 regardless of any outcome. A free version of BAR will continue to exist and be supported, that is not on the table for change.

If a commercial arrangement does move forward, it would likely involve a paid version distributed on storefronts like Steam, alongside the free build that lives on this site. Revenue from any commercial release is structured to flow back into development of both the paid and free versions.

Donations made today go toward server costs, infrastructure, accounting, legal costs, and ongoing development under the current non-commercial structure. If you'd like to wait until the consultation concludes before contributing, that's a completely reasonable choice and we'd rather you do that than donate without the full picture. How are donations spent

Basic Funding

For the sake of transparency we would like to disclose, BAR Team B.V. currently is registered by IceXuick in the Netherlands.

In alignment with the core values of our project, we want to assure you that all funds received through donations will be allocated to cover running expenses for servers, infrastructure, asset purchases, web hosting, commissioning work required for the project, administrative spending and other/related costs to keep BAR running smoothly.

We now have the proper foundation to ensure the continuity of BAR for many years to come.

Why do we have $9.95? Beause transaction fees are lower below $10, which effectively will just slightly increase the percentage of donations below $10 that we can put into the game.

Privacy: We don't use your data for any other purposes than to make the transaction. We do have to keep the transactions for at least 7 years for proper bookkeeping.
