Detailed info
Kharros is a water-dominated line world whose purple seas and branching rivers are saturated with iron sediment and industrial residue. Its waters corrode machinery, clog systems, and stain armor, turning prolonged shoreline deployments into wars of attrition against the environment itself.
Cortex doctrine approaches these conditions as something to be bound and endured, applying layered fortification and deliberate pressure through the Chain and Mantle, while Armada commanders more often treat the hostility of the environment as a catalyst for adaptation rather than an obstacle to be contained. What appears as open ocean from orbit often conceals intact structures, buried fortifications, and decades of wreckage beneath the surface.
The iron-saturated water and unstable ground are not natural. They are the accumulated byproduct of decades of extraction, bombardment, flooding, and abandonment. Kharros’ hostility is the sum of every war fought. It's sheer volume of water makes naval control decisive as waterways function simultaneously as transit routes and hard barriers. This fragments the battlefield into isolated theaters, pushing Commanders to their limits as they fight multiple disconnected engagements at once.
Kharros cannot be stabilized without enormous investment, yet abandoning it would open navigable corridors across the frontier. It remains locked in constant low-grade conflict not for what it offers, but for what it prevents.
