This balance patch standardizes most conventional missile weapons to 0.5 Edge Effectiveness (EE). But what does that actually mean?
Edge Effectiveness determines how quickly damage falls off as you move away from the center of an explosion. It does not mean that an EE of 0.5 deals "50% damage at the edge."
BAR calculates AoE damage using:
Damage = Max Damage × (AoE value - Distance from explosion center) / (AoE - Distance × Edge Effectiveness)
The easiest way to understand this is by comparing the extremes:
Most conventional missiles are now standardised to EE = 0.5, giving them a consistent damage falloff profile.
The attached graph shows the effect using the Juggernaut missile. Its Edge Effectiveness changes from 0.85 → 0.5, while its maximum damage increases from 800 → 1000.
The important part isn't that every missile was buffed or nerfed by this change. Their previous EE values varied considerably, so standardising them to 0.5 affects individual weapons differently.
The goal is that AoE values now behave consistently across conventional missile weapons, making their effective splash easier to understand and balance.
