Thermic Spires

A humbling and deadly force of nature with beneficial sides to it, piercing the otherwise omnipresent sickly green being one of them.

Perhaps the only natural formation on Osemo escaping the all-encompassing, sick, yellow-green hue. Spiky mountains of cracked aluminum, producing hydrogen and temperatures spiking from 300 beyond 500 °C in violent reactions, pierce the sulphuric skies and get to be seen from orbit. That is convenient, as this nature's wonder is one that's indeed best viewed from afar. Gas geysers, spontaneous fountains of high-velocity thermal updrafts, propel extra heated aluminum sulphate dust high into the atmosphere. Rapid, localised spikes of temperature can lead to the actual melting point of aluminum, which in turn results in no less but rivers of boiling acidic sludge carving their way down the slopes. At this point a thermal runaway is created and this terryfying and fascinating display of energy seemingly has no end to it.

The wild, destructive nature of these phenomena has a benevolent side to it, as it makes Thermal Spires produce the life-giving water as one of their byproducts. Of course, given the abundance of other admixtures, it takes some effort to make it actually life-giving as far as humans are concerned.
