With just three weeks passing since the last official tournament, we are back with another one, and this time we are really going to shake things up. Are you ready to embrace the unexpected, think on your feet, and conquer challenges with your quick wit and creativity? Join us for the most exhilarating and mind-bending tournament of the year: the "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome" 6v6 Tournament!

Qualifiers

28th-29th of October and the 4th-5th of November, at 5PM CET on Saturdays and 10AM CET on Sundays.

Main Event

11th and 12th of November, at 2PM CET on both days.

Format

There will be 4 qualifiers and then the main event. Each team can register 6 players + 2 subs.

  • Qualifiers will be single elimination BO3 brackets with the top 2 teams moving on to the main tournament.
  • The main event will be an action packed, frenzied 6v6 featuring strange, atypical maps and 8 teams in a round robin setup with the top 4 making it to the final elimination bracket!
  • The final bracket will be a single elimination BO5 with the players who adapted to the changing gameplay better than their opponents.

Our fantastic host for this tournament will be Professor_BAR, and he has a variety of gameplay and map modifiers planned for each map that will change match to match, providing a variety of new ways for players to think about how to play!

For the fist round, the map is picked by the team with lower collective OpenSkill rating. The next ones are picked by the loser team.

Spicing it up with modifiers

As we all know ProfessorBAR is the number one enjoyer of spice. Not hard to deduce he has made sure to spice things up beyond all reason with this competition. The each round he will spin two infamous Wheels of Doom picking if and how the landscape of the battlefield will change and what crazy gameplay tweaks shall be applied. Below we list them with some instructions on how to set them up in your lobby for practice.


Map modifiers

For practice, you can apply these modifiers in the Adv. options tab in the battleroom interface. The numbers next to the modifiers indicate how many times they appear on the wheel of doom, hence how often they will be picked statistically.

No Water x 2
All water removed

More Water x 2
Map dependent, see the list

Water Is Lava x 1
All water is now lava

Hooked x 1
Map will be Hooked

Speed Metal x 1
Map gets overwritten by Speed Metal

No Modifiers x 2
Nothing gets changed

Inverted x 3
Heightmap gets inverted

Once a modifier is picked it gets removed from the wheel, amounts might get changed. If/when the wheel is empty we restart a full wheel.

Gameplay modifiers

Some of these modifiers are applied through battle settings in the Adv. options menu of your battleroom.  In this case you will have to manually apply  They are strings that tell the game to mutate in a certain way.

Rules of the tournament: 

  • You will be disqualified if you are more than 15 minutes late. We recommend showing up early and setting the lobby up in advance.
  • Send us the winning replay or your win will not count.
  • Banter is allowed unless breaking the Code of Coduct. If you go too far a warning will be issued. There will be no second warning. Banter does not mean harassing or being mean for no good reason.
  • You can only be in one qualifying team. As long as you are not qualified however, you are free to try with different teams.
  • Stops are only allowed if the game settings are wrong or if both teams agree to it.
  • Each team is allowed a total of 3 minutes of pausing per match. Unused times do not carry over. Spam pausing will get you disqualified.
  • If someone on your team gets banned from the tourney and you do not have enough players left to be 6 (counting the two allowed extra’s) the whole team will be disqualified.
  • No custom widgets allowed
  • We reserve the right to disqualify players or enforce new rules as seen fit during the tournament.
  • Players aren’t allowed to resign and stay in the game as a spectator. You either all resign within a few seconds as the game is over, or vote for a team resign.
