BAR servers can be unstable at times. A problem with our server-host is identified and we're waiting for it get fixed.
In total, more than 8 hours of live-stream, brought to you by mainly Jazcash, also the initiator and (largest) financial contributor for the prices (next to Badosy and Dubhdara). Also very worth mentioning is Teifion who did great commentary on the live stream with Jaz.
The Battles have been fought violently, tactically, masterfully or sometimes not so smart :) But it was a hell of a ride!
The last couple of weeks have been an absolutely special time for BAR development and our marvelous community. Every day brings increased levels of activity. We are happy to welcome all the new players and contributors helping us get the game to the next level.
Firestorm - the original 3D modeler that worked on hundreds of BAR models back when it all started is here again and kicking! After returning he immediately went to improve even more models and animations. Welcome back!
Jazcash - an old guard player, contributor to SpringRTS ecosystem and community, he is helping us develop awesome live services like the replays browser, leaderboards, active games and more.
Watch the Fort - Doing all kinds of amazing work for the game and our website! Keen eye for quality, accessibility and working on a big multi-lingual framework for BAR localisation.
Teifion - server/infra developer, helping us create an awesome new backend and server for the game with more functionality and better scaling. Also a fine and eloquent Welsh gentleman.
Many new milestones have been reached, in particular in improving and preparing the game infrastructure in terms of ease of use, bug-free experience and functionality. Most notably, the game lobby has been upgraded with many useful functions helping you experience enjoyable games. Not to mention new single player options such as scenarios; which will eventually become the basis for a fully fledged single player campaign. We also enjoy some superb live services on the website. The lobby server is getting a total rework to allow for easier management of games/players along with additional scalability. Many new maps have been released and the community is steadily growing, reaching a whooping 3,600 discord members at the time of writing.
The game itself is getting more and more stable as we work on our custom SpringRTS engine fork dedicated to BAR. Some people are saying it shouldn’t be called an Alpha any more, who knows! In any case, we decided that the time has come for some celebration of what we have done here.
